Strikes in Syria Will not Diminish Chemical Weapon Capabilities - Bassam Haddad Questions the Purpose of Strikes in Syria

 Bassam Haddad is Director of the Middle East Studies Program and an Associate Professor with the Department of Public and International Affairs at George Mason University. Haddad is author of Business Networks in Syria: The Political Economy of Authoritarian Resilience and co-editor of The Dawn of the Arab Uprisings: End of an Old Order?

He joins us to discuss Syria. He said recently on "Democracy Now!" that the U.S. policy amounted to a "very cynical attempt to do a bloody nose operation, and that will actually prolong the civil war, prolong the depletion of the resources of anything that has to do with Syria, not just the Syrian regime."
